The group is established to advance the education of the public in archaeology in the counties of Cheshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside. As a regional group of the Council for British Archaeology, the group also has a consultative role in safeguarding the historic environment in the region and shares in a forum for archaeological opinion.

Bought in theatre groups and performers.

We now engage the wider community extending our activities in the area of improving the environment in Temple Normanton. We recently involved the whole school in planting 12,000 spring bulbs in the woodland area situated in the centre of the community. This activity included the involvement of the school and the PC. We plan to further enhance and improve woodland area making it accessible to all.

The club caters for the health, welfare and leisure of residents in the Worsbrough area, through bowling provision:- of a competitive and social nature. The Gazelle Trust (TGT) gave a grant to 'Affordable Computers and Technology in Tanzania' to equip a community school with a computer room and train 2 teachers. TGT designed and distributed, with training, an educational aid for reading and comprehension in 4 schools in Rwanda. TGT set up a Youth Centre in a rural Zambian town with a community library that will assist it in becoming sustainable.
